You would not play poker if you did not know whether two pair beats three of a kind. Nor should you litigate civil cases in Tennessee without a working knowledge of the rules of civil procedure and evidence. And, if you find yourself in our appellate courts, you would be advised to have a solid working knowledge of the appellate rules as well.
The purpose of this blog is to bring you practical information about the rules of civil procedure, appellate procedure, and evidence in Tennessee. Over time, we hope that it will be a resource similar to Day on Torts, which lawyers visit thousands of times every month to find a case that will jump start them on their legal research. We understand it will take a while for us to reach that level of visitors – Day on Torts has over 2800 posts going back over 17 years. But, one must start somewhere. And we have decided to start right here, right now.
This free resource is brought to you by BirdDog Law and the lawyers at the Law Offices of John Day, P.C. Our law firm has a 30-year-plus tradition of helping Tennessee lawyers help their clients, a tradition which we reinforce by creation of this blog.
You can help us help other members of the Tennessee Bar by sending us motions, orders and briefs that address civil procedure, appellate procedure and evidence issues in Tennessee. If we think that what you have shared fits within the scope of this project and will benefit Tennessee lawyers, we will share your work product and give you an appropriate shout-out.
